RE: Readings From Inverter When Using Circuit Tester

I had the same thing. I thought I had a problem with my inverter until I plugged in my analog voltmeter. That read correctly. You'll also probably find that if you plug a digital clock into an inverter powered outlet it will run fast. I'm not sure why it happens but it does.

RE: Doom and Gloom!

The lifestyle of the past twenty years could not last, did not last and will probably never return in our lifetimes.
I see no reason for my lifestyle to change. Actually crude oil is way down, gas and diesel are coming down. Life is getting better. Maybe things are worse in Canada.
It is inevitable that we will see taxes raised.
It doesn't have to be. We could cut back on spending.

RE: Diesel Fuel Discount Card?

I use a Chase Freedom card to get 3% cash back up to $6000 in purchases annually for fuel, groceries, etc. Actually it's for the top 3 qualifying catagories. I get 5% back from Discover up to $100 in purchases a month ($1200 annually). A Chase BP card has a 5% cash back card good on BP purchases only. A Chase Speedway card offers points which can be converted into fuel discounts. You can check them out on the Chase web site.

RE: Can I dump the dogbone ???

The RV plug is bigger and requires a larger hole. I found an adapter for my Honda on line for about $17 plus shipping at a place in WA state. Camping World also has them but they were a bit pricier. I believe they are listed as Honda accessories but they should work in yours.

RE: Arches NP

I saw that too. We were there in the spring of '07 and they were keeping people away from it then.

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

We spent a week last month in Death Valley with our daughter, son-in-law and grandkids. They have '00 3500 Chevy 5.7. We have an '05 2500HD with a DMax. We pull similar 5th wheels. We went everywhere together with both trucks hooked and unhooked. We had 65 miles on a full tank before we left and we put another 70 miles afterward before we filled up. They filled just before they left and as soon as they returned. They spent $455 on gas and we spent $430 on diesel.

RE: Hwy 2 from Glacier NP to Everett

Took that route a coule of years ago with the rig in my signature. Beautiful ride. Nothing really steep. We hope to do it again sometime. Lots of snow this year but you should be OK by June.

RE: In Bed Fuel Tank

We carry our generator in the front of our pickup box so our available space was limited. I found a 26 gallon plastic marine tank in a Cabela's catalog that would fit in the available space. I plumbed it to gravity feed which was very simple. I ended up with about $175 invested and it works great.

RE: Glacier National Park

We have stayed in St Mary's, Two Medicine and Apgar campgrounds. Two Medicine was our favorite but it's at the end of the road. You have to come back by the same road. There are two lakes there and you don't need a license to fish. We caught a trout in Pray Lake. St Mary's is a good base camp for the east side but not a great place to sit (IMHO). We also likes Apgar and it makes a good base camp for exploring the west side. We drove up the west side of the park to Polebridge and Bowman Lake (mostly gravel). You probably know already but the CGs in Glacier NP have no hookups. If you go up to Many Glacier stop in at the Cattle Baron for a great steak.

RE: Stromberg Carlson tailgate?

I have a Stromberg tailgate but it is not louvered nor does it have cables or places to attach cables. They may have more than one model.

RE: Which option would you want on your new truck and why?

Get the cover with the stock talegate. Then when you get ready to hitch up. Remove the cover and tailgate and put the "V" Gate on. It does not take but a few minutes to exchange these items.
Be sure to get the easy to remove cover.
X2. That's what we do and it works great for us.
